FOR THE TEXTS YOU’D REGRET

Maybe
not.

Read it back first.

The friend who reads your message before you send it. Tells you how it lands, the risk you’re taking, and the version that won’t blow up your week. Under five seconds.

MAYBE NOT.

Read it back first.

wow okay guess i’m just not a priority cool

You know the text. The one you’re about to send.

We’ve all sent the message we wish we hadn’t. Maybe Not is the friend who reads it back first. No therapy speak. No corporate softening. Just the version of you that’s already had coffee.

I can’t believe you said that. I’m done.

After a fight. The cold one.

hey, hope you’re doing well i guess. anyways

After three days of silence.

i know it’s been months but i still think about you

2 am. The ex. The bad idea.

Maybe Not catches them before they go out.

Five seconds of pause. Years less regret.

1.

Paste it.

Drop the text you’re thinking of sending. Add who it’s going to and what happened, if it helps. Nothing leaves your phone unless you ask.

2.

Read the read.

In five seconds you get the emotional read, the send risk, what it actually sounds like, and a better version you can copy and send.

3.

Send the better one.

Or wait. Or send nothing. Whatever you decide, you decided it on purpose. That’s the whole game.

See what your text really says.

Five sections of honest read. No therapy speak. No corporate softening. No "it sounds like you might feel." Just the truth a smart friend would tell you, in the voice they'd use.

YOUR MESSAGE

“wow okay. guess i’m just not a priority. cool.”

SEND RISK

High

This message may cost you more than the silence already has.

EMOTIONAL READ

You’re not actually upset they didn’t respond. You’re scared they don’t care, and “cool” is armor.

HOW IT SOUNDS

Passive aggressive and manipulative. They’ll get defensive or shut down.

BETTER VERSION

“Hey, I haven’t heard from you and I’m in my head about it. Can you let me know when you have a sec to talk?”

BEST MOVE

Don’t send the original. Send the rewrite tomorrow morning, not tonight.

Three friends. One moment. You pick the one you need.

Every message reads differently depending on who’s telling you the truth. Maybe Not gives you three.

The Friend

Says it like a friend would.

“You’re scared they don’t care, and ‘cool’ is armor.”

The Real One

Sees what you’re hiding from yourself.

“You go cold first so they can’t go cold first. You’d rather end it on your terms than be left.”

The Smart One

Thinks two moves ahead, for you.

“This hands them the high ground. They get to walk away looking reasonable while you look unhinged.”

We never see your messages.

This is the most personal thing you put in your phone. We built Maybe Not so that even we can’t read it.

No accounts.

No email. No password. No contacts. You open the app and use it. That’s it.

No saved messages.

Your texts live on your phone. The AI reads them in the moment, then forgets. We never store them on our servers.

Face ID lock.

Lock the whole app behind Face ID or your passcode. Your journal stays yours, even if your phone gets passed around.

Try it for free. Pay if it’s worth it.

Three free reads to see if it’s for you. Unlimited everything if it is.

Will Maybe Not read all my texts?

No. Maybe Not only reads the message you paste in, in the moment you tap Check. It can't see iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, or anything else on your phone. You choose every message it sees.

Do you store my messages?

Never on our servers. The AI reads each message once, returns a result, and forgets. Your journal of past reads lives only on your phone, and you can clear it any time. If you uninstall the app, your data is deleted with it.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a chatbot. Maybe Not is built for one specific moment: the second before you send a text you'd regret. It's tuned to give you a sharp read in five seconds, in a smart-friend voice, with three rewrite options and a send-risk level. No prompts to write. No back-and-forth. Just paste, read, decide.

Why can't I just ask a friend?

You can. Maybe Not is for the moments your friends are asleep, your group chat is the people involved, or you don't want them to know what you almost sent. It's a second opinion that doesn't gossip and doesn't get tired of you at 2 a.m.

What does the free version include?

Three full message reads with The Friend voice, unlimited vent journaling, and the nightly nudge. After your three reads, you can keep using the journal forever, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited reads, three voices, and four tone variants per read.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

Tap Start Free Trial in the app, confirm with Face ID, and you get 7 full days of Pro. Cancel any time in Settings or your Apple ID and you won't be charged. If you don't cancel, your subscription begins on day 8.

Is there an Android version?

iPhone first. Android is coming a few weeks after launch. Same app, same features, same price. If you want a heads-up when it drops, email support@maybenotapp.com.

What if the AI gets it wrong?

Sometimes it will. The AI is a second opinion, not a verdict. If a read feels off, try a different voice (the Real One, the Smart One), or trust yourself. Maybe Not is a tool for pausing — what you send is always your call.

Maybe not.

Five seconds of pause. The text you’d regret, intercepted. The version you can actually send, written for you.
